Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified the Indian Economic Service (IES)/Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination, 2012, a combined competitive examination for recruitment to Grade IV of the two services.
Indian Economic Service has 31 vacancies while Indian Statistical Service has 29 vacancies, which may change subsequently. 3 vacancies have been kept reserved for PH category candidates (one for Hearing Impairment and two for Locomotor Disability or Cerebral Palsy) for Indian Statistical Service while one vacancy for Blind or Low Vision category has been kept reserved for Indian Economic Service.
A candidate may compete for any one of the Services only for which he / she is eligible in terms of the rules.
The Examination will be held from 1st December 2012 at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Shillong, Shimla and Thiruvananthapuram
